Your files stay on your device

Last updated: September 2, 2026. Applies to the HTML to PNG browser extension.

HTML to PNG turns an HTML file, pasted HTML code, or the page you are viewing into a PNG or JPG image. All of it happens inside your browser, on your computer. The extension has no server, no account, and makes no network requests during conversion — so there is nothing we could collect even if we wanted to.

What stays on your device

Everything the extension touches stays local:

  • The HTML you convert — a file you choose, code you paste, or the page you capture. It is processed in your browser's memory and is never uploaded anywhere.
  • The images it makes — PNG and JPG results are kept in your browser's local storage just long enough for you to save or copy them, then expire automatically.
  • Your conversion choices — the background you pick applies to the current conversion only. The extension does not keep a profile or history of what you converted.

Old results clean themselves up. Uninstalling the extension removes everything it ever stored.

Legal bases

Where the GDPR or UK GDPR applies, we process data on the basis of your consent and to perform the feature you asked for (for example, rendering the HTML file you chose into an image). Because processing happens only on your device, you can withdraw consent at any time by simply not using the extension or uninstalling it.

Retention and deletion

  • The HTML you convert exists only in memory while the conversion runs.
  • Result images are stored locally and expire automatically; starting a new conversion replaces the old one.
  • Nothing is ever stored on a server, because there is no server.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you have rights over your personal data:

  • GDPR / UK GDPR: access, rectification, erasure, restriction, portability, objection, withdrawing consent, and lodging a complaint with a supervisory authority (such as the ICO).
  • CCPA / CPRA (California): to know, access, delete, and correct your data, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell or share your personal information.

Since the extension sends us nothing, we hold no data about you — most of these rights are satisfied by design. For any question or request, email us and we will respond.

Security

Your HTML never travels over the network during conversion. Files and pasted code are rendered in an isolated view that cannot run their scripts, so a malicious HTML file cannot act on your browser through the extension.

Children

HTML to PNG is intended for users 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

What we do not do

No accounts. No analytics or tracking inside the extension. No ads. No watermarks. No selling or sharing of any data — we never see your data in the first place.

Our website

Right after installation the extension opens the welcome page on this site once. That page uses Yandex Metrika, a visitor-statistics service, so we can see how many people install the extension and whether the setup instructions work. It records visits, clicks and scrolling on that page only; it never sees anything you convert, and the extension itself sends nothing. This policy page and the uninstall page do not use it.

Limited Use

The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we will update the "Last updated" date above. The current version always lives here.
